Review of Coco Bongo Hostal in Bahia de Caraquez

There are several hostals in Bahia, ranging from $10 to $100 a night. We checked out several hostals in Bahia and the best rate as far as value/amenities is Coco Bongo. Here in Ecuador "Hostal" or better known has "hostel" means "hotel". The first night in Bahia we stayed in a $60 night hotel, which was nice and charming but $60 a night was not in our frugal budget so we trekked the streets of Bahia looking for a more budget-minded hostal that suited our needs just the same.

Staying at a hostal does not necessarily mean sharing rooms or bathrooms with others, although it can mean that and there are many such backpackers/budget type hostals like this throughout Ecuador. Even though we are frugal we prefer a private room with private bath. This is a review of the Coco Bongo Hostal in Ecuador.

  1. Nice to know there are lesser expensive places to stay. Cute, about the crack in the floor! I like it that you guys are frugal!

    Thank you for sharing!
